There is a world outside the USA - and the Chinese know about that! There are 55 Million "oversea" Chinese - most with generations of commercial experience and graduates from leading universities. And there are many from China today on "constructive missions" all over the world - a world that is now turning to China for mutual trade. The export from China to the "developing world" is now already beginning to compensate for some of the decline in exports to the USA - and this trend will definitely increase. The Chinese are sober and realize that powerful political sectors in the USA will maintain the de facto "Soft War" against China (as also against Russia) during our time, and that China stands surrounded by U.S. "partners" in a geopolitical and strategic siege. To sum: The Chinese know that they stand alone - or fall tied with or by the USA. As European analysts have stated: Government, academics and intellectuals have examined the globe to discern what societal model could provide a guide for China's future: The Scandinavian model - regulated market economy and social security and medical insurance for all - seems to be under discussion.

For a more pessimistic account of the China-US relationship see http://chinastudygroup.net/2009/10/china-pessimists-and-optimists/ and http://chinastudygroup.net/2009/10/the-great-chinese-bubble/ at the new China Study Group website (http://chinastudygroup.net/).

The Chinese economy and its link to the US is unsustainable.

Part II

China has the population 3x the US and at the time of the Tian An Men massacre committed by its Communist bosses 2 decades ago, a std. of living ( in PPP terms ) only a fifteenth that of the US. If it took Japan ( with a post WW II population roughly 1/2 and a std. of living 1/3 that of the US ) nearly 40 years to catch up with the US ( at the cost of crippling the Detroit Big Three, misled & denied investment since the '60s by the very same Wall St. ), it does not take a Nobel laureate in Economics ( ?) to figure out how long will it take for China to catch up with the US and at what cost to US industries and our std. of living.

The other difference between Japan and China is of course that the former does not have Nuclear weapons but China does and have them pointed at the US. China has turned the Trillions of $ made it has made selling shirts and shoes to the US into better ICBMs and anti - US policies around the World ( gobbling up Oil resources thus providing their cronies in Wall St. a ready excuse to manipulate crude Oil price, encouraging Dictators & authoritarian regimes as in Burma, Sudan and Zimbabwe ) !.

Instead of the US changing China for the better ( democratization ), ironically it is Communist China that has changed the US and for the worse ( more crooked billionaires created by outsourcing who then invest their wealth to further manipulate public opinion and buy up Congress, 10 % unemployment and foreclosures ).

Fifth Columnists and Opinion Makers in the US ( from Harvard to Hollywood ) who profit from the unbalanced trade w/ China are still trying to manipulate public opinion here. But the people have woken up.
